Ferrum College is partnering with the FHC Network to create a living-learning community for students interested in combining their academic pursuits for future employment with their personal calling to become involved in church planting efforts around the world.

Earn your bachelor’s degree as a residential Ferrum College student engaged in co-curricular programming focused on your calling as a Christian minister.

Program Options

• Early Arrival and Accelerated Degree Completion
  • Students who qualify for this program can choose to begin their full-time enrollment at Ferrum College as soon as May 2026. Complete your first semester of coursework and get a head start connecting in the surrounding community with ministry leaders who will help train you in church planting and church revitalization.
• Transcripted or Non-Transcripted Options
  • In addition to earning a non-transcripted degree in Education, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, or another academic discipline related to your intended career goals, you will participate in training designed to equip you as an effective missionary and church planter. Some of this will be formal coursework that can be incorporated into a transcripted certificate, a Religion minor, or even a Religious Studies double major.
    However, missionaries in some areas around the world may wish to avoid drawing attention to this academic preparation while applying for employment that requires their college degree. Your preferences can be accommodated as you discern future ministry opportunities after successful completion of the church planting program alongside your academic career.
• Residential Small-College Experience
  • Become a full participant in residential college life while deepening your relationship with Jesus Christ in a supportive community of fellow believers. This immersive living-learning community will be limited in size to allow you to interact with the full range of opportunities afforded to all Ferrum College students while you practice interacting with a diverse community from a wide variety of backgrounds.
• Ministry Practicum and Internship Opportunities
  • Through connections with local churches and the worldwide FHC Network, you will have the opportunity to apply for local ministry practicum experiences, short-term mission trips or service opportunities, or full internships supervised by FHC Network partners.

• Program Cost and Duration
  • Tuition, room, and board for this year-round program is very affordable per semester. The academic program can be completed during the regular fall/spring academic year in four years or in less than three years on an accelerated basis summer/fall/spring year-round with a break each December.
