My name is Layura Henley, I am a 2020 graduate of the Boone Honors Program and Ferrum College. I’m from Wytheville, Virginia, where I graduated from George Wythe High School with an Advanced Academic Diploma.
At Ferrum, I earned a degree with three majors: Pre-Professional Science, Health Sciences, and Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. Additionally, I was involved in Theta Gamma Omega (president), Ferrum Greek Council (vice president for legislation), Tri-Beta Biological Honors Society (vice president), Student Athletes Administrative Council (representative), Honors Advisory Council (chair), Minds-in-Medicine Club (member), Lambda Sigma Honors Society (member), and Ferrum Lions Club (member). Outside of academics, I was also a Middle Blocker/Right Side on the Ferrum College Women’s Volleyball team and an honors program mentor.
In May 2022, I received a master’s in medical physiology from Case Western Reserve University. I plan to attend medical school and aspire to be a surgeon, hopefully specializing in neurosurgery.
